Travel to Casa Artista

The closest airport is Pisa, which is called Galilieo Galilei. You could also come to Florence, Genoa and Bologna.

Public Transport
You must first travel to Lucca.
Pisa Airport is located very close to the centre of town so it is easy to catch a train from Pisa Centrale station. You can get there via the train outside the airport, the shuttle bus called LAM Red or take a 10-15 minute walk. You can buy bus tickets from the arrivals hall, the ticket machine at the bus stop or on the bus.
From Pisa Centrale you need to first catch the train to Lucca, the final destination is Aula or Piazza al Serchio and some of the trains go all of the way without having to change trains at Lucca. Look for ‘Partenze’ Departures. You can check timetables at trainitalia or bhan.de opposite. At Pisa and Lucca trains often leave from platform 1 which also have east and west sections.
You will need to get the train to Bagni di Lucca if you would like to get a taxi, or Ghivizzano Coreglia if you plan to catch a bus up to Tereglio.
You can also catch a bus to Lucca from Pisa Airport or from the bus station in Pisa.
You can catch a bus from Lucca to Tereglio with one easy change at Piano della Rocca.
The bus to Tereglio leaves from the main Piazza in Ghivizzano Coreglia, a 5 minute walk from the train station.
If you wish to arrive on trains and buses it is a pleasent journey, but some planning is needed and we will be very pleased to offer our assistance. During school term time, buses go up to Tereglio in the morning and evening, during summer holidays buses are less frequent and a taxi might be needed to transport you from the nearest train station. It is worth considering the onward journey when booking flights to best ensure a smooth transfer to Tereglio. Instead of paying for a taxi or if you have a late arrival, a pleasent overnight stay in Pisa or Lucca is a good option, and we recommend some hostels opposite.

Driving directions
Take the main road or motorway to Lucca from wherever you are driving from.
Motorway- follow the green signs A11 towards Genoa, and then A12 after Pisa Nord following signs towards Lucca Centro and then the main road SS12 towards Abetone.

Once outside the walls of Lucca, follow signs for Abetone and the SS12, which will take you up the Serchio Valley.
There are parallel roads on both sides of the river and you keep following the Abetone signs until you get to Chifenti, which is on the right hand side of the river.
Don’t worry if you find yourself on the left hand side of the river, just cross the bridge at Borgo a Mozzano and signs for Abetone will direct you to do so.
At Chifenti you take a left over the bridge following signs to Barga and Aula. Travel past the entrance to Fornoli and Bagni di Lucca on your right and continue until you reach a roundabout where you turn right towards Tereglio and Vitiana.
If you accidentally continue up the left hand side of the river too far, continue through Piano della Rocca and look out for signs to Calavorno on your right. Cross the bridge here and afterwards turn right. You will soon find the roundabout with Tereglio and Vitiana on the left.
From here there are two choices, you can use the car park at the North of the village and walk down through the village to Casa Artista, or you can drive to the car park situated at the south end nearest to Casa Artista (recommended)
Continue up this road until you meet the left turn for Vitiana and the restaurant ‘La Crepa’. In less than a Km there is a right turn signposted for ‘la Crepa’ and the sports ground which leads to the south car park.
From here walk up to Via Bolla and Casa Artista is the first house with an arch across the street, number 31.
If you wish to use the north car park don’t turn off towards Vitiana and simply continue up the main road, turn left when entering the village and drive up the steep slope on the right to the car park. To reach Casa Artista, walk all the way through the village until you reach Via Bolla. You will pass ‘La Crepa’ on your right and Casa Artista is the house with the arch across the street, number 31.
